Our Story

Since 2006, we’ve been flying enthusiastic, experienced au pairs from all corners of the globe to join everyday Kiwi host families, caring for their children and providing valuable early years education.

Started as a former au pair’s labour of love, over the years Au Pair Link has grown to become one of the largest au pair agencies in the world, and today we have hundreds of au pairs visiting New Zealand and joining our programme from up to twelve months. Today we have more than forty team members working throughout Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Welllington, Christchurch, Nelson and Otago.

Over the years, we’re proud to say we’ve accomplished a number of industry-firsts, developing a strong international reputation which has established us as a first-choice au pair agency for young travellers looking for an refreshing alternative to more traditional destinations.

Some of our achievements include:

As an au pair agency, our foremost interest lies in ensuring you have the time of your life in New Zealand, giving you enough space to seek independence, but ensuring we’re always there in case you need us.

Because we believe that’s what families are for.

Our People, Your People

It’s important to us that our candidates feel well-supported all the way through their au pair experience. From the moment you apply online, we’ll be in touch within 24 hours to start helping you through the process. There can be a little bit of paperwork involved, but our Candidate Managers, Lili and Emelie, are always there to provide boundless support, and answer any tricky questions you may have.

Once you arrive in New Zealand, we team you up with a Family & Programme Manager to help you during your placement term. Whether you need a few ideas of activities to do with your little ones, or just need someone to talk to, your Family & Programme Manager is there to listen and provide any support you may need.

Choosing Au Pair Link

The decision to be an au pair is a big one, especially if you’re moving halfway around the world! In choosing an agency, we recommend candidates consider how much support an agency offers, during the application process and the placement term itself. If there’s one thing we’re committed to, it’s ensuring you have the best possible time away, with the opportunity to make friends and discover a new side of yourself.

A nationwide support service

We have Family & Programme Managers around the country who are dedicated to ensuring you’re feeling well-supported. Whether you’re attracted to a big city or a smaller, rural area, we’ve got someone on the ground who can give you a call, or make a time to catch up and chat. If your first placement doesn’t work out, don’t worry, we’ll make sure you have adequate accommodation.

An exciting educational programme

Working on our home early learning programme, you’ll have access to qualified teacher support, as well as weekly playgroups, monthly activities and events, and a spot of professional childcare training! No worrying about activities to keep the little ones entertained – we’re there to help you!

Safety first!

We guarantee that you’ll be placed in a safe home environment. Our host family screening process includes police checks, and we visit every family’s home to ensure suitability for our au pairs. We also provide you with an employment agreement and ensure you receive paid holidays, sick leave and regular time off.

We make it flexible

Whether you’d like to book your own flights or have us book them for you, we can tailor our package to fit your requirements! Through our partnerships with STA Travel and Cover-More, we’re able to access competitively priced flights, and organise suitable insurance for you while you’re in New Zealand.
